Head Coach Kevin Gallivan
Kevin Gallivan is a Hollywood Park resident and has lived in the Park since 2005. He is married to Delizia Cappellini Gallivan and they are raising their nephew Nicolas Cappellini. It was in the early 1980’s that Kevin began his coaching career with summer league for Hollywood Park, Harmony Hills, Deer Field and most recently Hidden Forrest.
Kevin graduated from Churchill High School in 1983 and his senior year received All American Honors for swimming. He received a swimming scholarship and attended Indian River Junior College in Florida where he again received All American Honors.
Kevin’s college team in Florida used to sing a cheer before every swim meet and it was called “Icky La Boomba”. When Kevin returned to San Antonio in 1984 from Florida, he coached Hollywood Park that summer and it was then that the “Icky La Boomba” cheer was introduced. To this day the cheer is sung by the Hammerheads before every meet.
Kevin stayed in San Antonio and graduated from The University of Texas at San Antonio. Kevin also coached with The Alamo Area Aquatics Swim Club from 1985-1990, The San Antonio Wave from 2004-2006, and is currently coaching the Central Catholic Marionist High School and Providence High School swim teams and has done so since 2007. He is excited about the upcoming swim season and to be “back home” where he started his coaching career at Hollywood Park.
